Boat Bed

This is a boat bed that was built in September 2012. One of it's great features is a toybox at the bow (front).  It is a large toy box.  Some of the other features is the pull-out trundle. The trundle was actually modified to be use as a large toy box. We added sides and a bottom. Both of these can be removed if the customer decides they would like to go back to using it as a trundle.
The portholes were painted in a copper faux finish. I think that the copper went well with the black.

Nixon Train Bed

This is a custom train bed that was built for a customer in August 2012.  We customized it with the child's name and their birthday as the train number.

Special Edition Murphy Bed Locker

This is a cross between my Locker Murphy bed and my Special Edition Baseball bed. Instead of just having it all painted up we used some natural maple in parts. We also had the headboard lettering carved out and then repainted the recesses.
The headboard was very time consuming. Each letter or number recess was hand panted.

Vintage Locker Murphy Bed Loft

What could this be? Is it a set of lockers? A bunk loft? A Murphy wall bed? It is all the above!

This is a loft style bed with a murphy bed added to the lower section. It is based off a bed I built in the past, my baseball loft murphy bed. It is similar in the design, the theme just changed.

The inspiration for this one came from Pottery Barns Vintage lockers. We were after a beach/weathered look. To achieve this on the finish, I used a glazing technique to give the paint that old antique look. I started with a white undercoater and glazed it with a brown stain.

Other features added were the handles on the end ladders and the guardrail. The guardrail is a rope design backed with netting. The murphy bed is a full size horizontal. When folded up it take us the room of a twin bunk and allows a little more play room under the bed.  More info on beds like this can be found out our web site WWBeds Custom Furniture or it's sister site Poggy's Kids

Oak Boat Bed

This is a boat bed that we made slightly different then my standard version. Most of the time when I build them, I will have a solid color applied to it. This one needed to be a stained oak using oak wood. I’ve built similar ones before. Oak(example) maple (example). Most of the time switching from paint grade to a hardwood is just to use a different material, but on the boat was a little different. We had the Bow of the boat that had a curve in it. Normally I use a bending plywood and fill and paint it, but had to add an extra step to this on. Had to add an oak veneer. See blog on more details Oak Boat Bed

University of Miami Locker Murphy bed

U of M locker murphy bed
This is a murphy wall bed that was designed to look like a row of lockers. This is a part of our Murphy bed series in our Poggyskids furniture line. The two outside lookers are working storage units. The inside ones are fixed and fold down with a hidden bed. The colors were were matched to the true university orange. We found some decals that was applied to the doors. This was built in January 2012

If you think this is cool, check out the vintage style with Babe Ruth’s 1921 world series.
