Air Jordan Shoe Storage | Hidden Compartment

This is a custom cabinet that was designed by the customer.  They came and really liked the shoe box storage cabinets that looked like an over sized shoe box.  They asked if we could do more of an upright cabinet with doors.  They also saw a nightstand we had with a sliding top.  They wanted to know if we could incorporate that into their design.

I did and went a step further.  I put a lock on it as well.  I added a special lock that was controlled by a strong magnetic key.

Here is a video:

Modern Waterbed 4 Poster

This is not your standard Waterbed.  Most waterbeds are dated with the 70's look. This one took a modern spin.  Well use of mixture of woods.  Oak was used for the main part with Walnut used as accents.

This was built in February 2014 but the guys at WWBeds Custom Furniture.

Atlanta Braves Murphy Bed

Atlanta Braves Murphy Bed
This is an Atlanta Braves Murphy Bed. It has lockers, just like the Braves locker room. The 2 outside cabinets actually open and you can store things inside of them. The 3 inside lockers do not open but they do come down with the bed.

The workers at WWBeds can make it any team that you would like. They can personalize it to your choice.

For more options check out our websites: www.poggyskids.com or www.wwbeds.com. You can also call us at 501.753.9699.

Percy the Train Bunk Bed

Percy the Train Bunk Bed
Perfect for those Thomas the Train fans.  This bunk bed is a modified version of the Thomas bunk in the Percy theme.  The colors are right on has a lot of detail.

It is also a great solution for small rooms.  Even though it is a very tall bed it is under the normal eight foot mark of most ceilings.  Also with the ladder being close to the bed and not angled out saves floor space.

The guys at WWBeds and Poggyskids.com can even modify this bed to make it your own personal design.

Give them a call at 501.753.9699 or check out their sites: www.Poggyskids.com and www.WWBeds.com

Custom Twin/Full Bunk

I don't build a lot of bunk beds This is because there are imports in similar styles out on the market. For this one I had a special request. This customer like the style but did not want screws and hardware showing on the end panels that attached the side rails. There was also a need for some drawers.
The drawers have a raised panel look and the ladder had to stop at the lower side rail to keep from interfering with the operation of the drawers.
This one was finished in October 2012 and we used maple wood, dyed and stained to match a cappuccino color.
More info on this and other projects can be found at WWBeds Custom Furniture.

Yankee Baseball Daybed

This is a new design of my Yankees baseball bed. This customer wanted a daybed with a trundle and drawers and wanted to know if we could come up with something.  We completed it in September 2012
We used the large headboard that is normally cutout for the Baseball Loft bed and changed up the end panels. I originally use two foot boards for the sides, but I did not like the look of it, so I made new panels that had a swooping design.
The color is the true Yankee blue color that we had matched.
You can watch us build this live from our Current Projects page at wwbeds.com  and poggyskids.com  Also at the site photographs are posted each day of our work.

Boat Bed

This is a boat bed that was built in September 2012. One of it's great features is a toybox at the bow (front).  It is a large toy box.  Some of the other features is the pull-out trundle. The trundle was actually modified to be use as a large toy box. We added sides and a bottom. Both of these can be removed if the customer decides they would like to go back to using it as a trundle.
The portholes were painted in a copper faux finish. I think that the copper went well with the black.

Special Edition Murphy Bed Locker

This is a cross between my Locker Murphy bed and my Special Edition Baseball bed. Instead of just having it all painted up we used some natural maple in parts. We also had the headboard lettering carved out and then repainted the recesses.
The headboard was very time consuming. Each letter or number recess was hand panted.

Vintage Locker Murphy Bed Loft

What could this be? Is it a set of lockers? A bunk loft? A Murphy wall bed? It is all the above!

This is a loft style bed with a murphy bed added to the lower section. It is based off a bed I built in the past, my baseball loft murphy bed. It is similar in the design, the theme just changed.

The inspiration for this one came from Pottery Barns Vintage lockers. We were after a beach/weathered look. To achieve this on the finish, I used a glazing technique to give the paint that old antique look. I started with a white undercoater and glazed it with a brown stain.

Other features added were the handles on the end ladders and the guardrail. The guardrail is a rope design backed with netting. The murphy bed is a full size horizontal. When folded up it take us the room of a twin bunk and allows a little more play room under the bed.  More info on beds like this can be found out our web site WWBeds Custom Furniture or it's sister site Poggy's Kids

Oak Boat Bed

This is a boat bed that we made slightly different then my standard version. Most of the time when I build them, I will have a solid color applied to it. This one needed to be a stained oak using oak wood. I’ve built similar ones before. Oak(example) maple (example). Most of the time switching from paint grade to a hardwood is just to use a different material, but on the boat was a little different. We had the Bow of the boat that had a curve in it. Normally I use a bending plywood and fill and paint it, but had to add an extra step to this on. Had to add an oak veneer. See blog on more details Oak Boat Bed

University of Miami Locker Murphy bed

U of M locker murphy bed
This is a murphy wall bed that was designed to look like a row of lockers. This is a part of our Murphy bed series in our Poggyskids furniture line. The two outside lookers are working storage units. The inside ones are fixed and fold down with a hidden bed. The colors were were matched to the true university orange. We found some decals that was applied to the doors. This was built in January 2012

If you think this is cool, check out the vintage style with Babe Ruth’s 1921 world series.

Craftsman Corner Desk

This is an Craftsman style corner desk, designed and built with a murphy bed (see LJ Post). As with the bed, the customer designed it and drove in from Natchitoches, LA to finalize everything

Craftsman Style Murphy Bed with Hidden Desk

This is a new style finished in December 2011. It was designed by the customer. I’ve built a mission style Murphy bed for them in the past in black (see picture). She came with me with the design and the layout worked nice with a folding table. Most tables added to Murphy beds look like they were just added to the front without any thought. I love it when customers allow me to build one that is more inset and integrated into the overall piece. The desk legs are the top/center double doors and the three drawer fronts come down with the desk. It is similar to how I build my Smithsonian Murphy bed.

Pair of Chest

These are a couple chest of drawers that I modeled after on from one of my suppliers. The customer loved the style but wanted it in oak. The only color available was a cappuccino finish. They also changed up the sizes a little. It was built and finished in December 2011.

It has a post and panel style sides. The bottom is arched to leave it open. I also gaped the space between the drawer fronts a little more then normal. Normally I leave a 1/4” gap, but this time I left about a 1/2” to keep with the original design. One that I did deviate from was the drawer guides. The one from my supplier had epoxy coated side mount rails. I chose to use the ball barring full extension rails.

Angle Bedroom Suite

This is a bed that was built a long time ago. It is from the kids furniture site. I started with the storage bed headboard and designed everything else from there. The angle concept of the headboard was transferred to the chest and desk pedestal. If I remember correctly, the customer choose the chrome feet.

The wood is maple with a clear coat finish only.

This was a fun project. I wish I could do more like this.
